    St. Juan Diego was born in Cuauhtitlan, Mexico in 1474 and converted to Christianity as an adult. In 1531, he was favored with apparitions of Our Lady, who requested that a marian shrine be built. It is his tilma that bears the treasured miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
