  • St. John the Baptist
    Saint John the Baptist was the great prophet long waited for in the Old Testament; he came preaching a baptism of repentance in preparation for the Messiah. St. John baptized Jesus in the Jordan, following which a dove descended on Christ and a voice was heard from the heavens, proclaiming "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

    St. Martha was the sister of Mary and Lazarus. She served Jesus most literally, for he visited her home and she was the one to serve the meal and prepare the house. She is one of the few saints to have personal contact with Christ Himself.

    St. Martin of Tours was born a pagan in 316. During his time in the Roman army, he saw an old man shivering in the cold and gave the old man half his cloak. He converted to Christianity after seeing a vision of Christ that night, wearing the half of his cloak and telling his angels the story.
