  • St. Brigid of Ireland
    St. Brigid of Ireland is believed to have been born around the year 453 in Faughart, Ireland. At the age of 15, she devoted herself to the service of God, becoming a nun. She later founded several convents in Ireland and is the only native patron of Ireland.
  • St. Gertrude the Great
    St. Gertrude was born in 1263 to a Saxon family of nobility. She was placed into a Benedictine abbey for education and later became a nun herself. She was obedient to all of the monastic observances and is remembered today for the visions she recorded, which included intimate conversations with Jesus and Mary.
  • St. Scholastica
    St. Scholastica, twin sister of St. Benedict, was born in 480. She founded a religious haven for women about five miles from Benedict's monastery, at Plombariola in the foothills of Monte Cassino. in 543, three days after her annual meeting with Benedict, she died.
